For more than 60 years, JBL products have been bringing home the impact and excitement of the world's best recording studios, movie theaters and concert venues. Now, JBL engineers are creating these world-class listening experiences in the car. Thanks to advanced technology developed in the professional arena, JBL mobile products simply sound better than the competition. High output, superb bass response, long life and smooth response are all things you can expect from any speaker that wears the JBL badge. So join enthusiasts who know audio, and don't settle for anything but JBL in your vehicle. Bring the sound of the show on the road.
Listen Loud
The last thing you want to worry about is the quality of your speakers. We understand. All new JBL mobile products have to go through nearly 500 hours of environmental testing. We put them under temperatures fluctuating between -35° C and +90° C with up to 90 percent air humidity for more than 200 hours. We expose speakers to UV light for more than 150 hours to simulate a mounting location on a car's rear deck. We even shake things up, as all of our new mobile audio products have to pass extensive vibration testing before we release them for production. We've made unparalleled efforts to ensure the best possible quality so that you can listen long and loud when you crank up a JBL speaker.
Edge-Driven, Mylar-Titanium Tweeter
The JBL GTO608C component system uses a 1-inch (25-millimeter) Mylar-titanium (My-Ti) tweeter with a large voice coil--much like a voice coil found in high-end home audio speakers. The benefit of the Mylar and titanium blend in making a tweeter is that it is lightweight and has remarkable strength. At the same time, its large voice coil increases power handling and reduces distortion at high output levels. This tweeter design also helps create more seamless integration with the woofer. The GTO608C's tweeter is even adjustable, so you can modify it to optimize the sound. The result? True, high-end, audiophile-quality performance.

Computer-Optimized Outboard Crossover
When you want the best sound possible in your vehicle, only a JBL system will do. Like a high-end JBL home speaker, the JBL GTO608C component system employs a high-quality, computer-optimized outboard crossover that accurately and smoothly projects sound where it needs to go. Think of the crossover as a traffic cop for directing sound. When your music reaches your GTO608C speaker system from your amplifier or head unit, the crossover directs high frequencies to the tweeter and the midrange, and low frequencies to the woofer. Since we have engineered the crossover specifically for the high performance of the GTO608C component system, it provides incredible detail, smooth midrange and increased power handling. The result is an extraordinary listening experience that you would never expect to hear in the front seat of a car.
Plus One Cone
The JBL GTO608C component system uses a 6-1/2-inch (160-millimeter) woofer with the patent-pending JBL Plus One cone technology. Plus One technology gives the GTO608C more cone surface than competing models of the same size--up to 30 percent more in many cases. With a larger cone area, the GTO608C speakers provide higher efficiency and better bass response. Add a low-Q woofer design for higher bass output from the typical mounting location and 210-watt peak power handling, and the GTO608C will really get your car booming.
True 4-Ohm Topology
Low-impedance speaker voice coils extract more power from your amp for more powerful performance than high-impedance coils do. JBL GTO608C component-system speakers use a lower-impedance voice coil than a typical 4-ohm speaker to extract the most power possible from all amplifiers engineered to drive loads of 4 ohms or less. And the GTO608C component system is compatible with both aftermarket head units and factory-installed systems. Since many factory-installed systems incorporate 2-ohm speakers and include amplifiers designed to drive 2-ohm loads, replacing those reduced-impedance speakers with a typical 4-ohm model will reduce the power output from the amplifier. For the most powerful performance, the GTO608C component system makes the best use of any amplifier by providing an optimum 2-ohm load.
I-Mount Tweeter-Mounting System
If you are upgrading the sound in your vehicle to the GTO608C component system, JBL's proprietary I-Mount (patent no. 5,859,917) tweeter system makes it easy to flush-mount or surface-mount the tweeter. But being easy to mount isn't enough. A tweeter has to sound good as well. If you flush-mount the GTO608C, you can use our innovative flush-mount cup to angle the tweeters and lock them into the best angle for optimum response and imaging.
Starfish Tweeter-Mounting System
What about when you want to replace the factory-installed component system that comes in many of today's vehicles while keeping that "factory-built" look? JBL engineering has made that easy, too. The GTO608C features JBL's Starfish tweeter-mounting system. It simplifies mounting the tweeter in any number of ways behind factory grilles and panels, and it doesn't require any special modifications.
Intermount III (Patent Number 6,505,705) Mounting System
Doing it yourself? Installing GTO608C speakers in nearly any factory-built location is a breeze. Designed as replacements for factory-installed OEM speakers, they easily install into nearly any factory-built 6-1/2-inch location without requiring any special tools or modifications. To make installation even easier, the GTO608Cs use JBL's patented Intermount III mounting system. Depending on the vehicle, the factory-built 6-1/2-inch location can actually vary in size from 6 inches all the way up to 6-3/4 inches, thanks to the GTO608C's included installation rings. Even if you are upgrading an older set of aftermarket speakers, the GTO608C makes replacing them easy.
The JBL GTO608c component system delivers high output, superb bass response, long life and smooth response. |

Harman Kardon AVR 235 7.1-Channel Audio/Video Surround Receiver Review
Take a closer look at the AVR 235's connections. You can also view the unit's front panel and remote control in detail. |
Surround sound features include Dolby Virtual Speaker, Dolby Headphone processing, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx processing (which provides an expansive, full-range 7.1-channel program from any stereo or 5.1-channel source). The receiver handles all other popular formats (including Dolby Digital EX and Dolby Digital 5.1), all standard DTS modes (including 6.1 DTS-ES Discrete, DTS-ES Matrix, DTS Neo:6, Cinema 6.1/5.1, and Music 6.1/5.1), and even the latest DTS 96/24 high-resolution audio technology. You also get Harman's proprietary Logic 7 audio for enhanced multichannel reproduction from both matrix-encoded and 2-channel recordings.
Along with its extensive video connectivity, the receiver offers two wide-bandwidth, HDTV-compatible component-video inputs and an array of digital and analog audio connections, including multiple coaxial and optical digital audio inputs and outputs. It sports both analog and digital front-panel inputs, 6-/8-channel direct audio inputs, and 7.1-channel preamp outputs to accommodate a DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD, or universal player.
The receiver's triple-crossover bass-management system lets you choose from multiple crossover frequencies for the front L/R, center, surround L/R, and surround back L/R speakers. Most receivers and DVD players have far more limited crossover filtering or none at all. Moreover, you can set different speaker-size configurations for different AVR 235 input sources according to your needs.
With the AVR 235, you get a high-quality FM/AM tuner with 30 station presets and a Listener Preference System that lets you specify a surround mode according to the program source. You can also set speaker-channel levels for each program source and DSP format (for example, the subwoofer level can be set differently for multichannel movie viewing and 2-channel CD music listening).
